FIVE GOOD REASONS TO BOOK AT CHUNDU ISLAND

Chundu Island, only 21kms upstream from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe is a very special destination. I can think of a lot more than 5 good reasons to stay there, but as that would be at odds with the title of this article, I have been limited to the 5 most compelling reasons.

Many people from all over the world flock to the town of Victoria Falls to see for themselves the thundering waterfall that is one of the seven wonders’ of the world. Having already planned that trip, and paid for the airfare, it makes perfect sense to make the most of the journey and experience some of the other wonders on offer.

After the hustle and bustle of Vic Falls, a town that caters to both the adrenaline junkies and the curious, indulge in deliciously chilled island life. Chundu Island is an exclusive lodge with sole access to the beautiful 1.4km long island on the mighty Zambezi River. The lodge is constructed in the shade of magnificent riverine trees blending with nature offering spacious rooms with wide vistas over the river into the Zambezi National Park or the banks of the river on the Zambian side. Enjoy stunning sunsets, cocktails and a large swimming pool overlooking the river.

From Chundu Island there is lots to do both on the water and on land: Glorious sunset cruises with snacks and cocktails, the contrasting thrill and peace of canoeing on the river, fun fishing, exciting game drives and bush walks in the Zambezi National Park to mention a few, all under the direction and care of professional and experienced guides.

The Zambezi River has attracted explorers for centuries, ultimately resulting in the development of the Zambezi National Park which continues to lure visitors from Southern Africa and abroad who have traditionally made use of basic chalets or tents as a base from which to sightsee in the park. Chundu Island offers a new, stylish alternative: comfortably appointed large canvas rooms with palm thatch, private daybeds, a full service bar, swimming pool, in-room massages, as well as safaris and land activities in comfortable vehicles with individual bucket seats, and on water inflatable canoes and large comfortable barges for sunset cruises along the banks of the reserve.

In order to make your holiday as carefree as possible, we have included as many activities as we can in the rate; and to save you the stress of daily budgeting, all meals, teas and coffees, local soft drinks, beers, spirits and wines are also included. To top that, for those wanting to see the falls without worrying about staying in town and paying extra for meals, we offer guests staying 3 nights or longer a complimentary day transfer into town on one of the days.
